As a younger adult and teenager I used to fish a lot with friends and family. I think the first time I ever went fishing was with my Grandfather Gifford. I remember him taking me to a trout pond and fishing with the old cane poles. We caught a lot of fish, then he paid to have them cleaned and we took them home for Grandma to cook up for dinner. I did a lot of fishing as a kid at our old swimming hole we all called Hill's pond. I used to catch a lot of fish but nothing very big. I remember taking home several fish to clean and have mom cook up. I don't remember how many of them actually made it to the dinner table, but I tried. In high school I used to go fishing a lot with a couple friends. I used to love to go out on Turtle Creek and play with the huge Carp. I never took any home to eat but I loved the battle they put up when hooked. After high school I joined the Army and my fishing time decreased to almost zero. When I was station at Fort Polk LA I went out a few times, but nothing very serious. After I got out of the Army I went driving truck over the road and my fishing time went from almost nothing to nothing very quickly. I now have a regular day driving job which allows me to go fishing at least on weekends and in 2010 I was finally able to get out and do a lot of fishing once again. I hope to have many more years of fishing left in me. The yearly links below will take you to photo galleries of fishing trip from that year along with a short descrption of the fun. I hope you enjoy the galleries as much as I enjoyed the trips. |
